Yes and yes. I have made cakes and pizza bases using ground almonds/ almond flour interchangeably.

ooh interesting, bit cheeky but do you have any recipes
If Radders doesn't reply soon or anything there are lots of recipes for baking using almond flour on google, just google almond flour cake or low carb baking etc there are also recipes using coconut flour etc available too, I've never tried any myself but they do look delicious! 🙂 x

oh great thankyou x

I make loads of cakes with almond flour or coconut flour. I made a Yule Log last Christmas & it was fantastic. I found it best to use a lot of eggs which helps make it more moist. The recipe is somewhere in the recipes section on this site.

just wondering do the cakes and things taste of almonds? I have seen lots of recipes for using almond flour but I don't like the taste of almond so have been hesitant to try them, plus its so expensive to buy I have only seen it for like nearly £10 for a 500g bag

I don't find they do taste of almonds. The cheapest way to get it is from Lidl. They are quite small bags but cheaper than online or Holland & Barrett. Sorry, can't remember the price.

thanks will have to ask my sister to get me some and maybe try a cake!

Morrisons are selling whitworth Almond Flour for 2 packets of 150g for £3 which works out at £10 for 1kg. Don't know what they do to make it 'Low Carb' because it really shoots the price up and the carbs aren't that much less than regular almond flour.
You need more eggs than with regular flour and some recipes add Flax Seed (linseed) and this does add, what I consider to be a nasty flavour.
If you know someone with a Booker Cash and Carry card they sell 1kg bags for £11.49 (6.9g carb per 100g).

Have you got the Yule log recipe please? Time to start practicing for Christmas

It should be in the recipes section on the Food & Carbs Queries forum.🙂
