Bad reporting

I think it odd that he could go into a coma at the wheel. But then as others have stated we don't have all the details so we can only assume.

I don't drive as I never got around to taking my test. I do have a full motorcycle license however. I have had hypo symptoms on long journeys before and have spent a good few hours on the hard shoulder testing and waiting for my levels and also the symptoms to go before riding on.

I'd much rather get where I was going late than take the risk of ending up dead or killing someone else because I lost control and caused an accident.

I think there is more to this than is being reported.

Going into a coma isn't easy nor very quick, there would be symptoms. If he chose to ingnore them this sentence is very lenient. He definitly couldn't be ok to drive one minute and in a coma the next.

I get the feeling he was using his condition as an excuse though that is only my feeling. Maybe driving like an idiot and thought he could get away with it if he pretended to sleep.

Would be interesting to know what his sugar levels were at the scene.

I totally agree with this post, going into a coma aint quick wen your a diabetic takes months of no insulin or way too much at once eh? In which case you dont miraculously come out of it when an accident happens
I was once in a hypo and "come out of it" blood sugar wise but completely unresponsive for at least an hour after my levels returning to normal so had to be taken to hospital to make sure my brain was still in tact I guess?? lol 🙄
Its a total shame for the person he killed- you are soo right steff :D

but i really think that if the bbc thought it was relevant to report this story to the public then at least give us the whole picture so people who are interested can understand...
