Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi all,

I joined specifically to ask this question. Lately I've been feeling as if my bloods are low; achy, tired, adrenaline rises, all that jazz, but when I check my bloods they're normal/high.
I think the weirdest was a level of 16mmol, but I was sweaty and weak.

Obviously when I Google this it just screams at me about hypos, so was wondering: has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do about it, or what causes it?

Thanks in advance,

Callum

Edit: six years type 1. Usually able to distinguish hypos from just being tired. Also used to having extreme highs when my diabetes was badly managed.
Ketone levels are way below any warning levels at 0.1 or less.

Hello @calwallace , welcome to the forum. Have you been diagnosed long .
The reason I ask is if you are newly diagnosed you may be having what we call here , false hypo’s,

I can get a few strange symptoms when I am hypo that are not mentioned in the link below. I also get very tired and moody just like when I am hyper

On the odd occasions when I reach the mid 9s I feel very tired , moody and generally ill.

So I think our signs can be very individual just like most other things to to with diabetes. My symptoms have also changed over time.

Others more experienced than me will be along soon

Hypo and hyper symptoms can be odd and sometimes can be the reverse of what it feels like which is why checking your glucose level is the only way to be sure. My daughter can exhibit hyper symptoms sometimes when she’s hypo and vice versa. If in doubt test and then treat appropriately if you need to.

I sometimes get very similar signals at both ends now. I don’t remember this happening in the first decade or two, but sometimes I get hugely tired when low, and very hungry when high.

Just pesky diabetes messing with my mind I guess!

…. that and creeping anno domini, Mike!

Get used to the latter, me ole mate, it's inexorable however much we try to escape!

Could you be sickening for something, @calwallace ? Being achey and tired, having adrenalin rises, being sweaty and weak, and having higher blood sugar might all be symptoms of something else - or indeed could just be due to being run-down &/or stressed.

I get hyper symptoms when I'm hypo sometimes (after nearly 10 years type 1) but not usually the other way round.

Welcome to the forum, btw 🙂
