When tattoos are healing they get itchy, so fingers crossed it's a good sign. I get a face towel and wet it with cold water and put over it to ease the itchiness.

I don’t have a spleen so take prophylactic penicillin everyday, I suppose and I’m just guessing here, aspiration may introduce some bugs, he was concerned about open wounds. I don’t appear to have any in the area but it’s so black and blue I suppose a scratch could be missed. In fact the lump has been itchy today and I was very cautious when trying to ease it. TBF it’s very sensitive and I can hardly bear to touch it. I feel a bit better this morning pain wise, touch wood it’s the start of the healing. Still going to take it easy until I am 100% certain though. ( she says as she gets in from going out to the garden to top up the bird feeders! Gingerly, I may add.) 😉

Yes, I guess there might be some nervousness opening a wound for you. As my surgical wound spontaneously reopened, the escape route was already there.

Take it steady. Now doesn't strike as being the time to be bold or brave.

I had a much better day yesterday and was actually able to weight bear. I still took it easy though, helped to put a few baubles on the Christmas tree. Will attempt to walk to the polling station, 100 meters away. Wish me luck.🙂

It’s day 14 in the Bad Back Household ( you have to read that in a Geordie accent). I hobbled to the polling station yesterday, all 100 meters of it, and then back. Absolute agony for the rest of the day, I took extra codeine and now I can’t go to the loo ( TMI?). My left knee was actually hurting. I rested and iced for the remainder of the day. Got up at 6 this morning and decided I would wait until after breakfast before having my painkillers as I feel they make me feel very sickly and thought I would experiment. Had brekkie about 7, then I decided to make a ragu for tonight’s dinner. Probably took about half an hour all in, Mr Eggy was in bed during this activity as he would not have been happy. By this stage my haematoma and my whole left leg down to my ankle joint was screaming in pain. Two codeine and rested. Surely a bit of chopping and stirring shouldn’t have caused that? I am weight bearing now so I’m quite happy there isn’t a break but I have definitely done some major soft tissue damage. Eight days until our daughter’s wedding, I have hair, waxing, nail and hygienist appointments next week as well as setting up the venue Thursday and Friday. I haven’t quite got all my Christmas presents yet and my footwear for the wedding has five inch heels! 😱 That’s sorted as I have just ordered some silver leather ballet pumps, I can’t not have my hair cut and coloured or my eyebrows waxed. I could maybe forego the nails, I might just be able direct the setting up of the venue from the sidelines but I know one thing I won’t be doing and that’s my impersonation of Beyoncé on the dance floor! Ah well, daughter number two getting married next July, I should be better by then. 😉

I would go back to the GP on Monday if it’s still causing you that much discomfort. It may be that only time will sort it but 2 weeks is a long time. Are you able to take ibuprofen or similar? You can intersperse that with the codeine if so but check it’s not going to make any bleeding worse. And yes codeine is like that. Take something to help.

How's the back, @eggyg ? I hope you're seeing some progress at least.

Touch wood, it seems to be improving on a daily basis. Today will either kill or cure me, waxing, cut and colour, nails, babysitting and present delivering. I am still on the codeine and paracetamols, won’t be stopping them until after Saturday’s wedding. 🙂 PS the haematoma is reducing in size so hoping it won’t spoil the line of my outfit!

Really glad you’re finally seeing an improvement and I hope you can enjoy the wedding.

Oh, wow! fantastic news, all around (except for the kill or cure bit, obviously). If the haematoma is reducing, it sounds like it's being resorbed. Is your back a picture in technicolor yet?

Fingers crossed for you for the coming days, and especially the big day on Saturday.

Great news Eggyg. Hope all goes well for the wedding. X

I had multi coloured buttocks within two days followed by leg and thigh. Bruising almost disappeared from my bum but still on my thigh. Have had a good day, onwards and upwards. 🙂

Hope tomorrow goes brilliantly for everyone @eggyg

Enjoy tomorrow, @eggyg - I hope things don't hurt a bit on the day.

How's the back doing, @eggyg ? Hopefully more an inconvenience now than a huge distraction.

There’s been a massive improvement in the last two days. The haematona has definitely shrunk quite rapidly. Today I have managed without codeine, first day in four weeks. I’m thinking of getting out of the house tomorrow, maybe a trip into town to exchange a couple of things and buy our granddaughter a birthday present. That’ll be the true test as I’ve done very little for two days. So wish me luck. 🙂

Great news - hope all goes well both with healing and all the appointments and events too.

That’s great to hear. Good luck.

Sounds great @eggyg

hope the shopping trip goes well, and that the improvements continue.

Great news. Fingers crossed, once it has got going it'll continue to resolve itself.

These things take a while, but noticeable progress is so uplifting.
