Thank you for the warm welcome. I have been on B12 injections every 8 weeks for a few years due to a bowel condition. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes with blood glucose levels 50. My GP just told me that my B12 levels are double what they should be. Am wondering whether the high B12 levels could have pushed my glucose levels up
If our bodies are not able to correctly manage our blood sugar levels (i.e. we have diabetes) any stress or illness can raise our blood sugars.
However, if we have a healthy pancreas, it should be able to manage the additional glucose our livers are depositing in our blood to manage the stress.
I haven’t heard of a link between elevated B12 and elevated glucose either, but as @helli says illness and injury certainly have a reputation for raising BG.
How is your bowel condition? Is the B12 helping?
