Newbs I'm really sorry that your visit to the GP was so infuriating. Glad your DSN is on the case for you. Hope you manage to have a nice weekend.xx

PS I have hypos where it doesn't matter what I eat it won't go up. Horrible experience. I was on my own in another town the last time and ended up sitting in Vision Express and kept being asked if I was there for an eye test! I do feel for you.xx

What a great 'bedside manner' that GP has - not! :( 😡

Sorry the appointment was a waste of time, I hope that you can get a proper diagnosis via your consultant and DSN. There is no excuse for treating a patient that way in my opinion - if the GP didn't know about the test then they should have listened, found out, and then got back to you - it's the height of arrogance to pretend they know everything about everything!

I don't think so, I calculated it all out and injected after the meal.

Dork is a good word! 🙂

Hi Newbs,
I'm curious as to why you inject after your food? Most inject before so it coincides with the absorption of food.

I'm curious as to why your DSN has decided that your hypo was due gastro, have you been having problems like this for a while?
If so perhaps explore the timing of your insulin a bit more if you haven't already done so.
I expect you have already posted about it before but my memory is on the scale of 0 due to a bad flare of ME/CFS 😡

Another thought! have you tried testing your basal to see if that's ok? I've learnt from experience that having to much basal takes a lot longer to rise.

:D This did make me smile! I am definitely having a hating diabetes moment. People just don't get it, someone at work said to be today that I shouldn't be on my own incase it happens again - what, ever? It's just not the real world. I worry because my boss is terrified for me having diabetes as it is, to have diabetes with uncontrollable hypos would be really bad.

hehe glad it made you smile! They were a bit dozy in there and not much help but at least it was warm and I had a good look at their glasses! I think they thought I was homeless, at least they didn't ask if I had any Big Issue mags for sale!

I do feel for you, I am sure that you will get to a better place with the right help. Hope you manage to have a nice weekend.xx

Newbs have you been tested for coeliac? Worth ruling this out too. GPs know very little about type 1 diabetes, and some freely admit it, whereas others are too arrogant to think the patient may be more of an expert than they are!

Hi Redkite, yes I've had coeliac ruled out. My gp is definitely one that thinks he knows everything about everything!
