Had my meter Two weeks now,

14 day average being 9.1 , not sure if this is a good sign or not.

Any newbys, these people in here are correct, you MUST get a meter and adjust your

food intake accordingly.

That's a massive improvement Bill compared to your previous results. You need to try and average below 7 so you are on the way, set a goal for 8 this coming week then lower the following. Just remember Rome wasn't built in a day 🙂 It's always best to set a realistic target so you can meet it without feeling defeatist thus giving up.
Well done on your progress

Thanks Sue,

That has happened due to the low carbs advice given in here.

I wonder what those numbers would be had I followed the "eat starch and carbs" NHS advice ??

That's a biggy that is.

An average of 9.1 on the meter would give you a Hba1c of 57 (7.3) Bill so aim lower. However I find the Hb result is usually much lower than the average prediction because it doesn't take into account the non-testing sleeping hours when we drop lower. I get concerned if my average goes above 7.5

Good sign when it's dropping though so well done! I think you know what would have happened had you ploughed on with the carb and starch alternative! 😱

I've only been testing for 5 months and went from 14-20 to 6-9 sometimes higher if I've indulged which isn't often these days.

Do it slowly and don't rush it because of false hypos and real ones as I've done that in the past and freaked myself over it making it worse.

You should be pleased with your results as it's coming down. Keep at it and Lower it every month to 6 weeks

Cheers all.

I really am quite concerned at the polarity of naff NHS advice and the solid gold advice in here.

Got me thinking that has,,,,,, got me thinking.

I forgot about NHS advice. In that case I've not been on a bender I've been good! I've been eating lots and lots of carbs. I am guilt free yay. :D
