Didn't think that things could get any worse, oh how wrong can you be

Well carrying on from my earlier post I have been trying to get in touch with my DSN as some of you know. I really can't believe what has happened today! Got a call back from the hospital first thing this morning, only to be told that DSN no longer works out of the hospital, ok fine, u should get her on a new number or arrange app. at GPs surgery, great thinks me!
So I ring the new number and get through to a receptionist who says that DSN is doing clinic, ok can I leave a message, yes of course so I tell her what the problem is and she said DSN will ring you back at lunch time, thank you says I.
Half an hour later the phone rings and its my GPs surgery, they had had a phone call from the place/receptionist at DSNs new place of work saying that I had rung them saying I was poorly 😱 and they thought that the docs should ring me!!! That is not what I had told the receptionist at all! I couldn't believe it, so I explained all over again and thanked the surgery very much for checking but all I wanted was a little help and guidance and also told them I already had made an app. with Diabetes doc. but thought it might be a good idea to talk to DSN in the meantime. I am beginning to wonder if the receptionist took down the right message at all.

Is it me? Am I being stupid?

Beginning to wonder if its all worth the hassle, why the hell am I bothering,
so sorry feel completely worn down with all this,

No Shirl, you're not being stupid at all and it is worth it - despite the fact that the silly receptionist appears to have created a dramatic fiction out of your simple request! As Mr T would say 'pity the fool!' and keep at it 🙂 It's a pain, I know - you think you are being perfectly clear about things, but because they don't really understand what you are asking for it becomes Chinese whispers and transformed 🙄

You've done everything right, Shirl - very frustrating when a receptionist fails to write down the right information (which is waht I reckon happened).

Hope you get to speak with DSN soon! 🙂

I have had the same experience?s

Commiserations. I have had the same experience?s, when contacting the Dr practivce. I got so very feed up with dealing with the receptionist, I got so feed up with her that I just said ?please just make an appointment for me to see the Dr?, apparently in doing so I upset the receptionist who then had to see a counselor!!!!! I received a letter from the practice saying that I was unreasonable!! all I was trying to do was make an appointment!! when I made the next appointmet to see the Dr I found out that there is no come back, or possibility to put my point of view or to ask questions.

I think I must expect too much of other people, will try again tomorrow, but won't hold my breath!

Perhaps the DSN didn't want to talk to you or hadn't got time and told the receptionist to pass the parcel back to your GP 😉

doctors

I tried to get an appointment with either diabetic nurse or doctor last week my sugar level keeps dropping to 3 its now tuesday and i still havent seen anyone i give up

Good moaning all,

well a little progress to report, I have managed to find my DSNs mobile number, hurrah. She didn't answer but have left a message so hopefully I should get some sort of help if not today maybe tomorrow 🙄

Just a quick note whilst I was on phone with surgery yesterday the lady that I spoke to said that according to their records I hadn't seen DSN in surgery since Feb. 2011 😱 not sure how often I should see her, does anyone have any idea, am on Insulin as well as other diabetic meds by the way, or does it depend on PCT?

I would suspect that there is some confusion here.

The DSN may believe that as they no longer work out of the hospital you should be seen by someone else there or dealt with my your GPs practice.

I would expect that any records they had for you would have been left with the hospital.

Not that that helps really but it may be an avenue to go down - or if you can't get a response ask to be re-referred to another DSN.

I have never had a dedicated DSN - it changes whenever I am asked to speak to one at clinic - and it only remains them for a short period until I see someone else. Saying that as they all work together if I was to leave a message requiring help and the DSN was not available I think one of the others would call me back.

Yesssss, got to speak to DSN at long last! But, and there's always a but huh? She said that since the move things have changed, really? Anyhooo she said to get hba done and bp checked, before I see the doc. So have made app. with sugery nurse for said tests tomorrow and depending on results if doc thinks its necessary he will refer me back to her :( She did say to try to keep hba between 7 and 7.5 but didn't make any other suggestions.

So its a waiting game now!
