Are time zones really so baffling?

I wonder if they are confusing the whole “time travel” thing? Where apparently, the further you go from the earth & the faster you travel. Time “slows down” in relation to everyone else on the planet’s surface. (I think it’s been noticed with clocks on low orbiting satellites?)
Great Scott!

They were not referring to the jet stream. They were only talking about the planet rotating.
Although I may have it the wrong way round for the shortest journey.
It would make sense if you & the plane were not rotating with the earth (except US -> Europe would be the short trip, I suppose).
