I was only aware that this trust provided the annual retinopathy check so I'll have a check when I have my appt next week as when I went on a course 3 years ago it was NHS run and even though on insulin now, as a type2 am not allowed to go on the "type 1" course.

This came as a surprise to the GP rep on the local CCG when they had a public meeting about diabetic services. I had an email only 2 days in advance of this meeting and was the only non-professional attending and felt by the end of 2 hours that I had spent most of it educating them all about what having diabetes really meant. Thank goodness I also had my OH with me for support as it gave me the courage to speak out.

It might be worth contacting the Paula Carr Trust direct.

A couple of years ago when I went into insulin , I asked my practice nurse about a course for T2 s on Insulin, was told their wasn’t one, but that she would put my name forward for the DERIK course, to be honest personally after 20 years with Mostly well controlled Diabetes and all the helpful people and info on this site I didn’t see much point.
In time the glossy mag came through and the course looked good. I gave them a a call and sure enough they didn’t cover insulin use. In the end I decided not to go.
Then one of of our T1 memeber’s, sorry I forget who, told me about the
bertieonline.org.uk. online course, it is for people with T1, but imo it’s good for us With T2 who are on MDI too.
