The doctor recently changed my metformin dosage. I now take two higher dose tablets rather than three a day. My problem is that it seems to have coincided with an appetite change. My appetite is almost insatiable at the moment and I am drawn to sweet things more, I never had a particuarly sweet tooth before.
Has anyone else suffered this side effect from Metformin?

yeah i have and i went from 1 metformin to two i cant help myself at the minute

Know what you mean, me on choc's most days. I take 3 850m metformin daily plus insulin and hardly ever had choc before then, supose it makes up for all those years without it. (diag 1990)

I take currently 2 850mg metformin and 1 80mg gliclizide.

Although fruit has a certain ammount of sugar in it, I'm told it metabolises in a different way to refined suagr found in sweets, so try fruit instead of chocolate. Mangos and bananas are satisfying and sweet, but experiment and find out what you like best.

Sweets are allowed as a treat, so you don't have to feel too deprived. Over the years of trying many different ways to loose weight I have learned startegies to get something sweet and still feel satisfied.
