So I finally got round to doing that thing I should have done two years ago :( - removing anything with more than 10 % carbohydrate in my diet and testing like mad. I spent about six years in Sainsbury's yesterday reading all the labels. . .

I am concerned about mints - I used to have sugar-free ones but they're all polyols aren't they? What about chewing gum or peppermint tea? I feel like a bit of an eejit for asking, but if I'm going to do it I ought to do it right. . .

I have sugar-free polos and they don't seem to bother me. I don't personally like chewing gum, but I think most of them use xylitol which is a polyol - I suppose the thing to do is to try them and see how you get on 🙂

Well done for all your hard work starting to get things under control! 🙂

I have sugar free mints and chewing gum without ill effect (apart from a bit of wind if I have too amny). They're brilliant if you ever mistake of going shopping before lunch. With one of those in one's gob it's easier to avoid temptation!

Thank you both 🙂 I suppose like anything, if I don't eat the whole packet in one go, there shouldn't be that much of an effect - we'll see!

Well put it this way if you eat the whole packet in one go you will break the land speed record to the toilet as can and do cause tummy upsets 😱
