Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have been Type 2 for the last 2 years - I have a general question if anyone can answer it
For the last 3 months I have been experiancing the same inital symptoms as the onset of the Diabeties - Don't panic, i'm seeing the Nurse in a fortnight for the yearly check up! I wondered if anyone else has had this?
Thanks Folks

Hi Lizzie

Welcome to the forum 🙂

What symptoms are you experiencing?

Are you testing your own BGs... any change in your levels?

Hi Lizzie, welcome to the forum 🙂 Are you on any medication for your diabetes? It may be that your regime may need changing. If your levels have become higher again, as when you were diagnosed, you will experience similar symptoms to those you did then.

Hi Mike,
Drinking a lot of water, peeing a lot again, and sooooo worn out after work
I thought it might be the weather, but it hasn't been like this for 3 months!!

Hi Northener
Yes, thats what I thought - i hate taking tablets

Lizzie, there may be things you can do that will mean less medication, rather than more. Are you able to test your blood glucose levels so you can monitor and modify your food if necessary? If not, it is highly recommended, as this may help reduce your levels without extra medications. Have a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S . Other useful things to read are Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter and the excellent Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - -even though you are not new to diabetes, it can help to make a fresh start if you are experiencing problems.

What sort of diet do you follow? Many people find following a low GI/GL diet suitable - try and get hold of a copy of The GL Diet for Dummies for a good introduction.

Are you able to get regular exercise? This will help to sensitise you to the insulin you are producing, and thus improve your levels.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, there is a wealth of experience here ad whatever your question, someone will have a good answer for you 🙂
