I'm currently taking carbocisteine capusles (375 mg). They are sunshine yellow, which is a nice wide awake colour, but I am so sleepy.

Anyone heard of them? If so what are the side effects? When dispensed the pharmacist said 3 times a day with or after food and don't operate machinery or drive.

When I am getting over anything I feel sleepy, but this beats anything I have felt before and just wondered.

Thanks Margie, that has helped. I'm certainly blowing my nose and coughing less than I was at the begining of the week.

Thanks, i've leant something! Been dispensing this for three years and still know next to nothing about it. BNF says side effects are rare, and are limited to allergic reactions (but i guess you'd know if you'd had one of those by now) and some gastro-intestinal bleeding (remember: rare!), vomitting and bloody stools will be signs of this, and get to your doctor right away if this happens to you, but otherwise refreshingly few side effects.
