Went in and collected my medication from Morrisons pharmacy and before the lady handed me them she got a piece of a4 and started asking me various questions ie am i happy with my medication has it been changed lately,do i self test my BG levels at home and have i made any changes to my lifestyle ,later when all that was over i signed the piece of paper she asked the questions off, could that of been a very casual medication review?

Cheers

That sounds very much like the sort of questions I got when I had a medication review at my local pharmacy, and it did involve an A4 sheet of paper, but I was asked first, if I'd mind having one ( they get paid for them) and I was taken into the private room at the back so it was confidential.
I also had questions on whether I knew how to store my insulin etc.

I think they're supposed to give you the option of refusing one. Maybe they haven't met their target! ( ever the cynic, me)

When I started a new medication which can have some nasty side effects the pharmacist did ask if she could ring me after a few days...just to see if I was happy to continue taking it...I had no objection to that...however...if I'd been asked about my other medication I believe I would have asked why...slightly suspicious of the testing questions...don't want to worry you Steff...but...is this part of another cost cutting exercise?...seems odd...why on earth would the pharmacist review your meds (if that is what she was doing)...I hope you read the paper to make sure she'd made an accurate note of what you'd said...I'd be tempted to ask why those questions were asked...what was the purpose of it?

Yes...on another occasion I had a brief chat with the pharmacist in a private room...again only to discuss a new medication...she did ask me if I was willing to discuss this with her before we spoke.

If it was a MUR ( medication usage review) it was brought in a few years ago after research showed that a lot of people on medication either forgot how they were supposed to be taking them, or hadn't fully understood the GP at their ( probably rushed) appointment, and a lot of them took them incorrectly, or stopped taking meds altogether. So it was supposed to be an opportunity to make sure people continued to take their medication as they were supposed to.

Well that makes sense Robin...she rang me initially after a few days...then when I had the prescription filled gain...she then asked if I would be happy to speak to her...pleased to say that was the blood pressure medication...which I no longer need to take.

Never had a medication reveiw at the Pharmacy, but I had one at my surgery about 18 months ago by a Pharmacist. It was a sit down double appointment in one of the consultant rooms, and she had access to my GP records and I had to take all my medications and supplements both prescribed and thoose bought over the counter. I got the impression at the time it was part of a trail.

Thanks @Bubbsie it's ok not worried I will ask tomorrow. Ain't it always the way you feel suspicious after it's happened well I do

The pharmacy gets over £100 for doing the med review. I just tell em no thank you the NHS is cash strapped as it is.

LOL Sue - one of the things it can and does weed out - is people stockpiling - like the obvious example of son or daughter orders and collects parents repeat scrips, one of the items on mine is Olmeprazole tablets - so let's order some more. However I've never needed to re-order any yet because I'm only to take them if the Clopidogrel I'm on starts to cause acid reflux. So far it hasn't so I haven't needed any - BUT I'm told I need to keep a packet of them by me, to start taking them at the drop of a hat cos it's so common - and not have to go through all the palaver of having to see a GP and get it prescribed as and when.

My kids wouldn't know that!

I like a medicine review. I start by asking which of my Chronic conditions they've found a cure for, recently? LOL

I asked my Pharmacist for a medication review coz they keep sending me meds that i dont use anymore, even tho i dont request them. I was shown into a private room and she went through my meds with me - and wrote them down on yes on an A4 sheet of paper. I signed only to acknowledge that I am taking the meds that are prescribed for me & which she wrote down on said A4 paper! I also asked if she would would put my meds in sinq. because I use some meds sooner than other.
