Does anyone have experience of this drug. I have been prescribed it for an infected toe but after a few hours of taking it I have a horrible metallic taste in my mouth - its like a mouthful of metal.

Whilst I was at the docs. with this ailment I asked if I could be referred to an NHS podiatrist as I have trouble cutting my own toe nails. She said this should be fine and referred me. I am waiting for a letter with confirmation of appointment now.

Yes had the taste with some AB - vile isn't it? although not sure it was exactly that particular one and can't remember what ailment it might have been for (or rather, against!)

Hopefully it isn't a long course though. Is this side effect listed on the leaflet?

It must be because more than 1 person in a 100 suffer it! It says so here:-

Hi Thelis my mum has this specific antibiotic on a regular basis for a lung problem and always has the horrible taste when she takes it. She says that the taste goes as soon as she has completed each course of the antibiotic.

Yes Thelis, I can only tolerate Clarithromycin or erythromycin and both of them leave an absolutely vile taste in my mouth. I end up not eating or drinking a lot of the foods I normally do and I absolutely can't drink tea when taking it - yuck! Hope you feel better soon.
