Hi - like you I was concerned about the still peeing 3 or 4 times a night 4 weeks after diagnosis and asked the DN. She tested the sample I took along and waited - she then said that I definitely had an infection and she would send the sample off to run further tests. In the meantime I needed a course of antibiotics and needed to take the full course and sent me straight in to see one of the Drs so that he could prescribe them for me.
It was the right thing to do as the peeing reduced. My DN said that UTIs are more common whilst blood sugars are raised especially if they've been raised for a while - perfect environment for bacteria to grow!
Hope you're getting a full night's sleep again soon!

many thanks

Hi, in my opinion, frequency of passing urine is often a symptom of a UTI, probably due to the irritation. Don't be tempted to drink less to avoid going so frequently, I would suggest lots of fluids. A 3 day course of anti biotics seems rather short, in my experience people are usually prescribed 5-7 days. Get back to GP if symptoms persist. Take care 🙂

thank you - sounds like good advice, I will see if symptoms return and if they do, I will be straight back to the GP

good to know

It is really good to hear from people who are in the same boat. I feel silly really putting up with the frequency for as long as I did and in truth, I dont know how long I have been diabetic before the diagnosis. Could even be a year or so. Even the three days of antibiotics have improved my nights a little, but as I said, I am not sure that three days worth are enough. We'll see. A good night's sleep is something I rarely experience! Many thanks for your kind words.
