Another urgent trip to eye casualty

Sorry to hear this, A.J. Sounds exactly like what happened to my mum's eyes, though she was not given any treatment. One went in 1982 & the other 10 years later.

So sorry to hear this AJ. Leaving it a week seems a long time for an urgent bleed. Sending hugs x

Thank you everyone. I was surprised that it was a week for laser but I think it is an under resourced eye department.

Sending you positive thoughts. Sorry you have to wait a week - it shouldn’t be the case I agree! Hugs to you.

Sending you positive vibes Amanda and here's hoping for the best of outcomes. It is incredibly frightening to see a bleed in your vision and impossible not to be completely focused on it, there's nowhere else to look. I know when I had bleeds they had to wait a while for the blood to disperse a bit so they could see where to laser. Best Wishes x

Thanks everyone. I phoned the eye department and have been told that they want me to see the consultant first so I've got to wait for an appointment. This is despite the eye casualty doctor saying that I would have a laser appointment within a week. I guess this fits with you've said Flower about waiting for the blood to clear before lasering.
Although I've 6,000 laser burns before because of bleeds I never realised that a big bleed would be like this. It's horrible. The constant black blob plus periods of loads of black dots covering all of my vision. They disappear when I close my left eye but I don't feel safe walking around with one eye covered, particularly as my right eye isn't particularly strong.

Just had a phone call from the eye department. My consultant will be doing the laser on 15th May provided that the blood has cleared enough.

Good luck Amanda.

Great news Amanda - hope the lasering goes really well and your vision is protected and restored as the blood clears.

Sorry to hear this. Least you have a date. Everything crossed for you!

Sorry to hear of the bleed, good luck for the 15th May!

Thank you everyone. I'd hoped that there would be some natural improvement but unfortunately it's still the same.

Fingers crossed for your appointment on the 15th. X

Good to hear you've got a date for laser Amanda. It is so difficult to watch and wait for any improvements but the blood gets trapped in the eyeball jelly if the bleed was from the retina and struggles to disperse quickly, it will start to clear and fade in colour but takes its time which is so hard to cope with. Sending you more positive vibes that things start to improve for you asap. Take care x

Really sorry to read about this AJ. How horrible and frightening for you. I do hope that it all gets resolved and send you lots of virtual hugs {} 🙂
