Another surprise

I usually go for a run around 90-120 minutes after injecting in the morning so that I know I have insulin circulating to prevent me going high. My levels barely change during a run usually - before and after readings tend to be within 0.5 mmol/l unless it has been a long run. This morning, however, my levels dropped from 7.5 before to 6.3 after.

That wasn't the surprise though. I often do a Gay Gasper session after the run, but only if it is within 4 hours of injecting so that I know I still have insulin circulating. This morning, however, I decided to experiment. I waited until 5 hours after injecting so that my novorapid had all but expired and also with the knowledge that I had no lantus either - what would happen? Well, I was 7.1 prior to the session (15 mins abdominal exercises). I half expected to climb higher, but after the session I was 5.6! So, without any insulin on board (except maybe the very dregs) my levels had come down from the exercise!

Alan I feel really pleased for you although I have to admit to also being slightly jealous🙂

Fantastic Alan - are you going to think about making any more permanent changes - your consultant is going to be very pleased with you.🙂

Alan I want proof that your diabetic lol, great news though an ideal pacient for your doctor, seroiusly it's good to see all these positives from you Alan it gives us all hope and the newbies who join here to x

Shows how different we all are, were I to go for a run for that length of time after injecting my bg would drop like a stone as I need to wait at least 90 mins before considering exercise.

Your physical fitness Northie is commendable and only wish I could reach those levels:(

Alan, that's fantastic news.

You have inspired me to get off my but and do 30mins of aerobic exercise every morning via the exercise bike, I then walk my dogs when my legs have returned to non jelly state 🙂

I am only on one Metformin a day and the doctor doesn't think it's doing much at all and wants me to persevere with diet and exercise alone.

I have another review this month and I am hoping upon hope that my blip has become non existent again.

My only problem is reducing my morning numbers which are the only time of the day that I am not in range. Say if I did another 30 mins a few hours before bed?

It's so lovely to see how exercise works 🙂 I have lost weight too 🙂
