I usually go for a run around 90-120 minutes after injecting in the morning so that I know I have insulin circulating to prevent me going high. My levels barely change during a run usually - before and after readings tend to be within 0.5 mmol/l unless it has been a long run. This morning, however, my levels dropped from 7.5 before to 6.3 after.
That wasn't the surprise though. I often do a Gay Gasper session after the run, but only if it is within 4 hours of injecting so that I know I still have insulin circulating. This morning, however, I decided to experiment. I waited until 5 hours after injecting so that my novorapid had all but expired and also with the knowledge that I had no lantus either - what would happen? Well, I was 7.1 prior to the session (15 mins abdominal exercises). I half expected to climb higher, but after the session I was 5.6! So, without any insulin on board (except maybe the very dregs) my levels had come down from the exercise!
