So just had my DB2 diagnosis confirmed after two blood tests came back with values of 54 mmol/mol. As I'd already seen the results via the NHS app I'd already started making changes to my lifestyle... No more chocolate, fewer carbs, less booze and more exercise. (Already lost 1 stone). Doctor was happy enough with my progress and we're redoing bloods in three months before considering medication.

I've found these forums a very useful resource to help me start my journey so a big thanks to all for sharing their experiences.
As others have mentioned it's been a kick up the backside to improve my health generally so not all bad I suppose, I already feel better and fitter, just need some new clothes for the new leaner me 🙂

Welcome and well done @RPM 🙂 It's great news that your GP has let you continue with life style changes before considering medication. Hopefully in 3 months time you'll have reduced that hba1c some more and won't need metformin.
Keep up the fab work!

Well done your GP for holding off on the meds. That doesn't always happen. As for chocolate, if you like dark chocolate then extra dark, ie 70% cocoa or higher, is generally considered OK in moderation. My choice is 85% extra dark but I limit myself to 2 or 3 squares per day, and even then not all at once.

Hi @RPM and welcome!

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but good on you for instantly jumping on top of it and making changes! Glad to hear your Doctor is waiting with you to see the results of those. If you'll have any questions at all - please don't hesitate to ask, but in the mean time - keep us posted on how you get on! We're always curious to hear about people's journeys after their diagnosis.
