Hi all

So Fayth went for her appointment with the doctor and diabetic nurse today and they did the above test only to tell my wife that we will get the results through the post in 3-5 days.

All i wanted to know is this right? I thought i read some where that you get the results while still at the appointment?

Hi Jon, it depends on what facilities they have for testing the blood. Some clinics have fancy (i.e. expensive!) machines that can give results on the spot, whereas others have to send the samples to a lab. In my case I have to get the blood taken a week before my appointment with the consultant, so I would say it is perfectly normal to have to wait a few days.

As Northerner said, this seems about right. I have always had to wait a week or so for the results. If you are seeing the consultant it is good to nip in a week or two before (to the GP or nurse) to have the bloods taken
 
Takes about a week here too.

We are supposed to do it at home (they give us a kit) and send it off so results are available for the appointment. I've never done this as K does not like me getting anywhere near her with a needle and she tried once to do it herself but was to fiddly/couldn't see. So we get it done at clinic and phone a week later with results (they don't mind)- if there was a concern we could talk then - usually know how things are going from meter readings anyway.
