Getting fed up of seeing levels around above what my current limit is, set the meter reports to the upper NICE guide lines of 8.5, my own goal would be in the 7.0's 2 hours after meal results.

My results are 30% of my reading are high above 8.5 and 70% on target with no hypos, results of my driving meter have been left out if included would throw even more highs. Not getting much sleep maybe 4 or 5 hours a night.

Now constantly hungry, not had a lot of energy for a good while. I originally lost weight at the start of the year up until recently, over the past year overall I have lost 2 kilos (weight does swing with me). Thought the weight loss was better than that as I had to put more holes in the belt, in the right direction. Now the weight is coming back on up a hole on the belt the wrong way (about 1/2 inch).

The doctors appear to winning at the moment as my average BS must be going back up as they want it above 50 (old fashioned practices) was 44, get the feeling that way they don't have to bother treating one and the patient can be ignored, especially when readings were in the 20's and docs said they were ok. 😡

There's no suitable alternative practices to move to, some docs don't bother to read allergy notes and prescribe meds that are clearly shown in the notes do not prescribe.

My BMI was 34 and I checked on the Abbott web site at my last weight, it was down to 32, doubt its that now. By blood pressure is erratic shown on a meter at the docs as well as my cheapo meter, which does not help docs aren't replacing the Ramipril that they took me off, to eliminate possible side effects, still on amlodipine which does help with the BP. Which in turn has not made a difference to the persistent cough I have.

I felt much better when my BS was a lot lower in the 4.0's to the 7.0's had the few peaks and odd hypo (excluding the very hot weather) high percentage was 16% to 21% not perfect but was getting there. Lows were 3% to 5% which included multiple testing until hypos were back in normal range, probably getting 1 hypo a week. I did not mind the hypos as was aware of them, had one in the hot weather that was the one from hell, as fast as I got the BS up it went back down and it was not even a very low hypo.

The nerve damage was far less painful and as BS rises can feel it more noticeable, not as bad as it once was.

On top off that water tastes like metal on occasions :( .

Feel really brassed off at the lack or what appears to be the lack of medical support, the only real victories I have gained is my test strips for the moment and get my BS back down from the teens and 20.0's.

Maybe it's time to stamp your feet for a referral to a diabetes specialist? Your GP clearly can't work out what's right for you as a person as well as a patient.

P.S. If the doc is reluctant but eventually gives in, request a copy of the letter in case it gets 'lost'. Or am I just a cynical old biddy?

Pav, I can't remember what meds you are on (has your doc taken some away?), but I would say just because your GP says you should aim for higher levels doesn't mean you should comply! Work to lower targets again if you have the means to do so.

Had a look at the hospital diabetic team which looks like its headed by 2 doctors, even tried to contact them but could never get through to them. Will have to try again to see if they need a docs referral.

current meds I am on are,

Metformin 2g, Gliclazide 120 mg, Aspirin, peppermint, codeine, Ferrous Sulphate, Amitriptyline, Simvastatin, Amlodipine, Hypromellose drops, viscotears liquid, B12 jab, E45, 2 creams for dermatitis one is a steroid.

Removed recently Ramipril

Even forgot I was editing the title and hit the return key before correcting it.
