well here it is!! my annual review is tomorrow morning 🙄

saw my DSN in November and was 'warned' that she is going to 'push' me into taking statins and perhaps diabetic meds if my figures haven't improved (cholesterol needs to be a drastic downward reading).

wish me luck guys................ I think I'm going to need it 😱

Fingers crossed everything goes well.

Best of luck. It's always your choice, but the meds are there to help if they're needed. They're not a failure or a life sentence.

Be as open minded as you can be and realistic about any alternatives. If you're sure you can do better without, then say so and prove it with results next time round.

Otherwise, go with the flow and maybe the meds can help you to restore some function so you can come off them later.🙂

Rob

Good luck Macast, I hope that you are pleasantly surprised by the results 🙂

Hi

Hope all goes well tomorrow. I never "tried" the diet & exercise thing so have been on metformin & low dose statin since I was diagnosed. Mainly due I think at the time having some surgery followed by 3 weeks radiotherapy.

I would say last March my HBA1c was 7.2 so meds increased; due to increased exercise last November now 5.8 and they halved it. I hope it stays a good level as they said they would put me down to 1 metformin just because it can protect the heart.

There are pros & cons to taking any meds; so see how you feel. I found when going to clinic appointments with my oncologist I found it helpful to write any questions or concerns down so I didn't forget to ask.

Take care
Lynne

thanks guys 😉

obviously I want the best for my body. but after 3 or 4 big conversations about the meds with my DSN I promised her that if I hadn't improved I would be a 'good girl' and take the meds 😱

All the very best, chin up and all that!

Good luck Macast🙂

Good luck macast hope all goes well for you x

had my review this morning and some good news .....

my HbA1c is down from 49 last time to 47 this time! (my phone App said 6.5% and 6.5% it is!!!!) :D

and my cholesterol is down from 7.1 last time to 5.8 :D

weight hasn't altered :(

I've been experiencing some pain in the site of my gallstone operation but the earliest appointment I could have was Friday at 4pm (which I booked on Monday)... and have had some high BG readings. I didn't worry too much about it until this morning when the pain was much worse.

we were half-way through my review when I felt unbelievably hot and then the room started spinning and I didn't know if I was on my head or my ....

next thing I know is that my DSN and another nurse are putting me on a treatment couch in another room!!!

to cut a long story short..... they got my temperature down and the pain and dizziness subsided.... a doc came and saw me and gave me a prescription for antibiotics..... I have to have blood tests tomorrow.... and have to see a doc tomorrow too. instructions are:- if pain or dizziness get worse then ring surgery.

they kept me at the surgery for well over an hour to make sure I had come back to normal.

what a day!!!!

Excellent results! You must be very pleased - esp with the drop in Chol. Onward and downward :D

And good to hear that they dealt promptly with you when you had your funny turn!

Goodness me! Great results for the HbA1c and the cholesterol 🙂 But sorry to hear that you were taken ill - at least you were in the right place for it! Hope you get sorted and feel much better soon 🙂

Fantastic results Macast. I hope that they are able to sort out your other problem very soon.

Well done on the results Macast! Sorry to hear you weren't so well and hope the antibiotics have some effect quickly so that you feel better soon. Katiex

Congratulations on the great results Macast 🙂
So sorry to hear you were taken poorly and hope you're feeling much better now xx

a bit of an update :-

yesterday had blood tests .... so those results will be available on Tuesday. also have had another doc appointment ....half an hour 😱

I'm being sent for an emergency scan and also being sent back to my consultant/surgeon who performed my gallbladder operation in October. my GP thinks that I have a gallstone stuck in the duct behind where the surgeon double clipped the duct/tube.... so it can't get out. if so then it means another operation to remove it :(

in the meantime it is a very very low fat diet..... and call 999 if pain or dizziness gets worse 😱

will keep you updated

Excellent results - well do, but can I ask how you got your cholesterol level down?

Well done on your results Macast, and lets hope your problem doesn't require an op.
