Faith I'm glad you had a good result. Karen, Newbs and Simples I hope that you all have good appointments as well.

Thank you all and I echo AJ's sentiments to the 3 going for their appointments soon - and I am sure that treacle tart is almost mandatory after the worry of a retinopathy appointment....(any excuse !) 😱

Just to let you know (and show off I suppose !) - I had my retinopathy screening done on Thursday 29th and this morning (31st) I have a letter confirming all is OK as the person doing the screening told me it was. I do realise how lucky we are in this area with our Care Teams but I think that is over and above the call of duty considering the time of year.

Hope all those still attending for screening soon have the same luck as I did.

Happy 2012 to all my virtual friends on the Forum - I wouldn't have come through this last year without your help I'm sure.

Wow, that is good service! When I was going for normal scans I was told I would only get a letter if something was wrong and it could take up to 6 weeks 😱 If I wanted to know before then I had to go to my GP after two weeks to see if they had been informed. Now I go to the eye hospital (because I received the dreaded letter) and as I get seen by a consultant I get the results there and then.

Happy 2012 Faith, I hope it's a good one for you and Ian! 🙂

Happy 2012 Faith all my love xx

Thank you all for your good wishes, it's horrible having it so close to all the celebrations cos it's there in the back of your mind. Tuesday is getting nearer...........

Where do you have to go Karen? - they hadn't invented it for the masses when I lived in Kiddy! - I know there used to be an Eye Infirmary somewhere in Worcester, cos one of my sister's neighbours used to have to go there (having only one eye)

It's now at the main treatment centre of the Bewdley road site - they also do the actual laser treatment there which is good - the nearer the better!

At one point it was at Mill Street - that was truly dire. Everyone in a big room and the nurse going round putting drops in with everyone watching. As I am particularly jumpy they marched me off to a private room on one occasion in full view of everyone. I was soooo embarrassed.

Then for a few years it was at the docs surgery and that was a lot better, people you knew - far more relaxed but now it's back at the hospital - both the retinal screening and the grumpy doc appt happen there.

He's a right misery - hardly speaks. When I told him I'd had a stroke he was like - "Well how old are you?????" In a very grumpy voice as if to say - don't talk cr** you can't have had a stroke!! I really hate going :(

Hi Karen I will be keeping everything crossed for you on Tuesday. I really hope that everything goes ok. Big hugs. Xx

Had my test yesterday; eyes a bit irritated for longer than last year. But seemed OK this morning.

Optometrist thought my pics looked Ok she apparantly gives them a grading before she sends them off. She told me they look Ok but I would have to wait for the official line from the local eye hospital who screen all results.

Local cafe didn't do treacle tart but did treat myself to a skinny latte & some scrumptious cinnamon toast.

Hi SimplesL I'm really glad that you had a good result

Hi SimplesL glad it all looked good from what they could tell you, it's always encouraging to hear that. Glad you enjoyed your toast as well!!

The news about your retinopathy screening sounds good for you too - and I LOVE cinnamon toast = they do a lovely round of it in Fields in Sidmouth, yum, yum......
