I had a reminder letter dated 14th December and they are now operating a system where you ring up and book an appointment at a clinic nearby.

I rang on 16th December and was offered an appointment on 22nd or 23rd December - I always chose a little cottage hospital in Crewkerne, Somerset to go to as it's easy to find and they are quick and very pleasant there, telling you (and showing you) the results on screen.

I said I'd rather go after Christmas because of the parking problems when people are busting a gut to get their Christmas supplies in and was offered tomorrow or Friday so I'm off tomorrow to be seen at 11.45 a.m.

Great service eh ?

That is service with a smile indeed Faith
Good luck at the appointment tomorrow hope all goes well

Nice when the system works efficiently and takes your preferences into account! Hope it goes well 🙂

That's good service indeed. I have mine on 11th Jan and I'm a bit worried this time as my eyesight has been a bit fuzzy lately, though I probably just need new specs. Good luck with your appointment.

Thanks for your good wishes, pals. I'll report back tomorrow (sound of knees knocking offstage) 😱

Good to hear you're having check and will get results when you want them. Hope there's no justification for knocking knees 🙂

No, it should be OK, nothing feels any different but you can never be too complacent can you ? I'll just be happier when it's over once again. 😱

Good News - No change from last year for my eyes. I will get a recall next year and a letter soon saying all is OK - although she showed me the results on the screen immediately, looking like a moonscape with little rivers running through it in black and white - the full colour one looked nastier but she says all is well.

I then went for a pub lunch with my son-in-law, daughter, OH and grand-daughter and was very good (breast of chicken in tarragon sauce, peas and just a few little new potatoes) but then I sinned dreadfully - homemade treacle tart ! 😱

Still I was celebrating so I forgive myself...

Good news on the eye results Faith good going, you naughty lady going for treacle tart and then telling us about it 😛:D

Well done on a good result Twinnie. They operate a similar system here although I had to wait quite a while for my appointment last time because there was a waiting list. Time was I could make an appointment for a couple of days ahead but it was about 6 weeks or so. I don't get my results on the day, just a hint that everything's okay. But my results come through the post within a week.

Hope you enjoyed the treacle tart. XXXXX

Glad to hear that all went well! 🙂 Was there custard with the treacle tart? Droooooollll! :D

Glad to hear all was well. I don't have the screening as such since I had laser treatment a while back. They see me every 6 months and a grumpy doc peers into my eyes and mutters. I knew I was due to be seen in November but no appt had come through. thinking it had maybe got lost i rang them up and was told I was in a queue. Luckily the lady I spoke to was not happy with that so she said I'm going to put you through to someone who can book you an appt otherwise it's going to be March before you get seen! I'm going on 3rd Jan - not looking forward to it but rather disgusted that if I hadn't made contact 6 months would have turned into 12 months.

Where do you have to go Karen? - they hadn't invented it for the masses when I lived in Kiddy! - I know there used to be an Eye Infirmary somewhere in Worcester, cos one of my sister's neighbours used to have to go there (having only one eye)

That's dreadful service - good luck for when you do go.

Great to hear all was good with your appointment 🙂. I've got mine next month and am not looking forward to it as had background retinopathy for the first time last year and levels have not been good, especially lately.

It must be horrid to have that worry hanging over you - I'm sure it won't be as black as you fear but good luck at the time. Let us know how you get on please.

Morning All

I have mine booked for next Tuesday with a local Opthemologist (no idea how to spelll it). My GP recommended her last year (my first test); as the they don't do a clinic as such but the local eye hospital uses various local opticians.

She gave me a look at my photos & said she couldn't see anything to worry about; but did say at the hospital they "blow them up" onto larger screens to have a good look. Letter a week later confirmed what she said; so fingers crossed this year will be the same.

Wonder if the local cafe does treacle tart as I pass it on my way home (well I do need a short detour to get there).
