I have had type 2 diabetes for 6 years and generally coped with diet and exercise to keep control. Apart from my high blood sugar level all functions work , have my eyesight regularly tested and had a private eye test for ( forgot the name of the test but all OK )

I am 72 and lost 10 kg since my last weight in (10 more kgs to lose ) and pretty fit , walk miles with no problems until I caught Covid again and knocked me about.I am not a perfect patient but I do try.I went for 7 months with out any beer and made no difference in reducing BS levels.

My doctor wants me to start using Metformin but no convinced but I have had an assurance if I can reduce my BS levels down to 59 what I may be able to reduce or stop taking the drug.

Recent blood test results could have been better , 100 but using exercise and diet reduced to 84.

Not feeling sorry for myself but annoyed with myself !

Really sorry for the long introduction

Sounds like you’ve made good progress with the weight loss but would an a1c of 84 I’d definitely be taking up the offer of starting metformin

Hi offspin, welcome to the forum.

You've got nothing to be annoyed with yourself for. You've done a great job in getting your numbers down and improving your weight so congrats with that!

It sounds as though you've got a good plan that's worked in the past so itt's great that you've been given some time to improve the numbers further.

We've got lots of info and support on the site so do have a look around and let us know if we can help in any way.
