As some of you will know I was prescribed amitriptylene nearly two weeks ago by a rheumatologist because I have been struggling so much for a long time with walking due to problems with my back/hips. I was reluctant to try the amitriptylene but was encouraged by my diabetic consultant and lovely people on this forum. For a long time trips to the garden centre, shops etc have been torturous with me needing to sit down every 5-10 minutes. I was warned that it could take 5-7 weeks for the amitriptyline effects to kick in and I took the first tablet Friday night (I'm also taking cocodamol and ibuprofen).
Well today was a wowee wowee wahoo day. For the first time in a long time I had a good walk round the garden centre, Hobbycraft AND Waitrose without needing to sit down (apart from when being driven to each shop) and only some easily manageable discomfort. I feel like a new woman :D :D :D
Just now keeping my fingers crossed that my glaucoma consultant will be happy for me to stay on it because it can potentially aggravate the glaucoma.
I'm a very, very happy bunny 🙂

Good to hear this AJ. Despite what the Verve say, sometimes the drugs do work! 🙂

Thank you Amigo and lol about the Verve 🙂

I am so pleased for you Amanda. You’ll have to call yourself Amanda Unlocked:D

Great news Amanda. Hope it continues to be a benefit to you.

Hi AJ
I've been on 25mg Amitriptyline tablets for 18 months now. I was prescribed them to ease the sleepless nights due to pancreatic pain. Apart from an initial period of feeling drowsy during the mornings and the occasional sore throat they miraculously bought down the pain to a tolerable level.

Good to hear AJ. 🙂

Thank you everyone 🙂 next trick will being able to stand in the kitchen cooking for more than a few minutes without needing to sit down 🙂 I'm trying not to be too over optimistic but I'm so excited that there may be further improvements the longer that I'm on the tablets 🙂

Lol Mike about Amanda Unlocked - I have so many plans if this all works out, so it may well be Amanda Unleashed :D I would love to be able to walk on the beach again and walk round London without needing to worry about needing to find a seat. Sorry I hope that you don't think I'm being insensitive given your situation.

I'm really pleased to hear that they've helped you 🙂

That is good news. I use a low dose each night to counteract pain over night and it enables me to sleep.
A good find for those of us for whom it works.

Great news, Amanda.....

Yay, this is great! Well done for facing your fears and giving it a go anyway. I hope the improvements continue for you! :D x

Thank you everyone x
