Was in Richmond, Surrey today & popped into Tesco Express. They had a ham & omelette wrap in the sandwich section. The wrap itself was an omelette with ham & salad in the middle. Only 7g carb. They don't sell these in our local Tesco. I thought it was a great idea using an omelette as a wrap. I'm going to try it myself.🙂

That sounds so good! I'm always struggling with sandwiches when I cant be bothered to make my lunch lol. I'm gonna keep an eye for it! xx

What a great idea. I'm going to be all over this one Mark...thanks mate. 🙂

Not one to let the grass grow under my feet I've just made a wrap for tomorrow's lunch. I added a teaspoonful of oat fibre to the egg because I thought it would give the wrap more body...and it worked perfectly. Hurrah!

Nice one 🙂

I use omelette a lot. I use it as pasta. Rolled up and sliced. Like lasagne and like canaloni. An omelette make like a Spanish Omelette with ham, chicken etc. and bits of cooked vegetables is just as easy to take with as a sandwich.

Lilian...your posts are always really useful. Would you consider making a list of your 'top tips' for low carbing. I know that each and every one would be worthwhile.

Just spotted this in the Tesco metro near my office. Im definately going to give this a try one lunchtime.

Just trying it now!!! (early lunch due to having to travel to a meeting for 1pm). Yummy, yum, yum. Very nice. Id definately have it again.

Unfortunately Marsbartoastie I can never just recall them, I think mostly because I do it and do not think of it as anything unusual. When you are been doing something for years it is so second nature you think everyone is doing it. It takes someone to post something when I realise I am doing something they might be interested in.

Its good to know that there are some convenient foods we can eat. Now all they need to do is widen the range.

It was filling too.

Have you tried a Tuna Omelette ? Tesco are a good for us lot 😎

I dont like tuna.

I didn't know they did a tuna one. Will hunt that out.🙂

I don't have a tesco but sounds nice

Sainsburys have redone their lunch range and added more sugar free drinks and one portion pots of low carb snacks! Today I bought a one portion pack of ham AND a pack of chicken and lamb kebab things. They were delicious even if they are £1.50 each!!

If you make an omelette and add a bit of buttermilk to the mix it adds a sharper tang and makes it a bit more "spongy" so it behaves better as a wrap. I've been omelette "wrapping" for years. I also do omelette rolls which are rather lovely, my favourite is chopped spinach added to the omelette, then mix garlic and herb cream cheese with a little bit of sticky chili jam (I make my own which is lower in sugar but there's not enough in the mix to add a great deal of sugar if you use shop bought stuff)), spread your cheese/chili mix over the cooled omelette and roll it like a roulade. Slice like a Swiss roll and it makes a great alternative to sandwiches. If you're not keen on the taste of egg in the wrap use just egg white for the omelette and add in some crushed garlic, herbs and a dash of soy. I freeze omelettes between sheets of grease proof paper, but I'm not entirely sure that's recommended practice (it hasn't knocked me off my perch though so I'd guess it's OK), does make it super convenient though. Another quick tip is an electric whisk, makes it super airy and light which I think makes an omelette that's more amenable to wrapping and rolling :D

I cook my full English, slice it up and then put it in an omlette rather than fry the eggs - sure beats the carbs from toast too.
