I asked about carb counting and was told it is taught at my local hospital but is only offered to those on insulin. Glad to see the DN was wrong again!
She wasn't wrong in this case. "Carb Counting" is a highly technical term relating to insulin users ( amount of carb per unit of insulin ).
Dmers not on insulin are encouraged to think in terms of "Carb Awareness" - thinking of a carb prtion as 15 grams of carb and having about 15 of them a day.
As Katie said earlier in this thread people ( mainly T2s) are using the terms Carb Counting and Carb Awareness indiscriminately.
