I used to be a milk lover and could get through a few pints a day,I only drink water now,I'm wondering if anyone has come across anything that is similar and without breaking the bank,I have heard of things like almond milk but there are so many diffrent types I wouldn't know where to start,I just know that I would like a big glass of something that has the texture of milk and a nice taste.
I cycled to Aldi in Leamington Spa tonight and bought a packet of 4 nut bars (The packet says) 4 gluten free NUT BARS with dark chocolate flavour coating and sea salt 5.9g carbs per 40g bar,I'm going to save them though until I find something nice to drink with them tomorrow.

I would go for Alpro Almond Milk unsweetened (nil carbs) or Coconut Milk

Thanks I shall grab some in the morning when I do my walk I see it's reduced to £1 in Sainsburys,I don't drink tea or coffee so it will be nice to have something different to water

Alpro almond milk roasted unsweetened is beautiful, I have it in my coffee and porridge as well, there is more of an almond taste (to me anyway) when chilled and I absolutely love the stuff, I usually stock up on it when Tesco have it at £1 a carton or 3 for £3 so I'm hoping they have it on offer again soon xx

FWIW, this type of soy milk is what I drink these days: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bonsoy-Organic-Milk-Litre-Pack/dp/B01JZDWU2S/

For me the attractions were:

- Engineered to have very similar taste and texture to full cream dairy milk. In fact, better, IMO. I hate skim milk etc. I also hate most other soy milks, almond milk, oat milk ...
- No saturated fats & lots of unsaturated, unlike dairy. My main reason for dropping dairy.
- Quite a lot of fibre versus zero for dairy.
- A little bit lower carbs (net of fibre) and a lot less sugar than full cream dairy. The sugar comes from tapioca syrup added to mimic/improve on the sweetness of full cream dairy. But not the thing if you're trying to eradicate carbs.
- Not very processed. Unlike most other soy milks I've seen.
- A tiny bit lower in cals than full cream dairy.

It works excellently with coffee and it's what you'll generally get here in Oz if you ask for a soy milk coffee in a cafe.

Packaged in Oz from Japanese supplies. Availability in UK stores limited, it would seem. Expensive! But for me, a few cups of coffee per day are non-negotiable and this was the best solution for me when I dropped dairy.
