Any recommendations for an alternative to Greek full fat yog.

Have been using Tesco finest full fat yog but just wondered if there are any alternatives not so worried about a couple of extra carbs per 100g but want less cals and don't like the low fat authentic Greek yogs.

I like Arla Skyr. It’s low fat and, although not exactly like Greek yoghurt, it’s not runny like many natural yoghurts and is high protein. They do a Creamy version with slightly more fat as well as the low fat version.

I second that. Arla Skyr is really good. Less calorie count than normal fat greek yoghurt.
Never opt for “greek style yoghurt” though, ensure it is actual greek yoghurt.

How about Quark, actually a cheese not yoghurt, There are some fruit flavoured, high protein, low fat, low carb. Similar texture to creme fraise, which could be an alternative.

Greek style is fine, made in same way, but can't be called Greek if not made in Greece. Much cheaper, and perfectly adequate.

While you’re right. There is a high carb content in yoghurts deemed to be “Greek style”. I’m not saying there no carbs in Skyr, but less than your conventional greek yoghurt - just something I’ve noticed

I assumed we were talking about plain, not flavoured. Tesco's cheapest Greek style full fat is 4.2g per 100g, a Greek yogurt is 3g. Unless you are on an extremely low carb regime, 1.2g for a decent 100g portion is negligible. The cost for the Greek style is 9p per 100g, the Greek is 4 to 5 times as expensive.
Your choice, of course, but many people have to consider budget constraints as well as number of carbs.

It's quite like a number of things, Greek yoghurt - utterly fab on a red hot seaside holiday on a Greek island, but preferably sheeps milk yog. cos it definitely tastes more 'tangy'. Used to sell it in Waitrose in the 1970s but can't say I've seen it much anywhere else. Drizzled with good local honey for brekkie. Ditto sangria 'on the Spanish beach', or churros with vanilla sugar in the depths of a Spanish market.

Yes great advice all thanks you, have just got a tub of Skyr carbs about the same as authentic Greek yog that I get from Tesco but better value and low cal's. Hope I like it I brought a massive tub 🙂 .

I hope you like it @Maca44 Skyr has a kind of clean taste to me. It’s different to Greek yoghurt but really quite moreish.

Rather wickedly I am reminded of Victoria Wood: "I couldn’t get your yoghurt so I got you a meat and potato pie."

Well, you did ask for an alternative 😉
She was brilliant such accurate commentary on life. I had the pleasure of going to the same senior school and recognised lots of things from those days in her sketches. Such a sad loss.
