Also signed both 🙂

Thanks John, I had missed Alison's petition.
Thanks Katie!

Hope that everyone else will get behind Alison's petition also and start supporting her very carefully worded petition. The level of support so far has been pathetic!

Here it is:

If you haven't already done so please support mine too. That can be found via this link:

These e-petitions need 500 supporters to ensure that 10 Downing Street will be certain to respond. My petition is getting there with 497 supporters so far. However, let's push Alison's up to that level also. It only takes a few minutes.

Diabetics need to start getting their voices heard and listened to!

John

'Tis done - me and OH - good luck alison and Wally, and thanks! 🙂

I signed but the email to authenticate my sig didn't work so it wont be counted. Will try again.

Hi,

I have signed Alison. Good luck with it and well done for taking it on board.

Sorry I didnt sign earlier, to be honest I must have completely missed it somehow and only just read it! sorry hon xx

signed ally waiting email....
Great stuff!

My petitition has now made it to 500 supporters so 10 Downing Street will need to respond.

Let's all get some effort into getting Alison's petition to that stage too.

Great stuff!

And what is the response likely to be ? A junior Civil servant, a trainee Sir Humphrey, put up to knock it down ?
What will they say ...
1. the Government doesn't make medical decisions about diabetic diet and testing.
2. An independent reputable body, NICE, makes those decisions
3. NICE makes decisions based on best practice and research evidence
4. the advice is reviewed from time to time on the basis of new evidence
5. @@@@ off !

As I told you right at the start, I wasn't going to sign your petition because it described T2 diabetics as "burden" on the NHS. That's talking THEIR language and justifying things like restrictions on test strips.

It's too early to say yet Peter - Let's wait and see and then take things from there. Shame that you feel like you do about something that is important to so many diabetics.

Best wishes - John

Hi Peter,

I see your cup is half empty, let me top it up for you.

Let's face it, we are all burdens on the NHS here 😉 But seriously, surely it can't hurt to spread the word and get people to take notice. Before I came on here I read the newspaper headlines about type 2s not needing to test and I believed them. This petition could at least help to show people that it is essential for most diabetics to test regularly.

I wonder how one'd get along writing to NICE. Or the MHRA. I don't know how the pettion to 10 downing street will go, but it's got to be worth a try and an exercise of our democratic rights. You don't know unless you try.
Everybody in the country is a burden on the NHS, that's what it's designed for, to take care of people.
I've signed

Signed, now what did it say?? 🙄

Good luck in getting it through. It's a very valid argument.
Thanks David - Great stuff!

Hope that people will keep supporting both petitions - especially Alison's. Let's get her's up to 500 supporters too.

Dear Whally,

I think Peter is being overly pessimistic, I await to see their response before I judge them. If by any chance you want support in your dealings with whoever deals with your petition I would be only too pleased to help

Petition

Just seen this thread and have signed both. I am now sending the links to everybody in my e mail address book. Good luck.

Dear Alison,

I just signed your petition, thanks for putting it up. However, I feel that they will ignore it because you have not made it crystal clear that we test in order to use the results in order to change our dietary choices. Is there any possibility that it could be edited? I guess not because that would require all who have already signed to sign again.

Edit: Farmer et al have already shown that testing is useless (NOT) because they too did nothing with the results!

Warmest Regards Dodger 🙂
Thanks Dodger - Great stuff!

Let's keep the petitions going! Hope that there will be some new members who will take a couple of minutes to support these petitions.
