But that's my point you have to do multiple cooks for larger meals, just wonder if it's just as easy & cost effective to switch fan oven on.

It was Nija slow cooker we were looking at, large one in Currys for around £200 at time, it just didn't look big enough & others were far to small.

Like sound of that, love good steak.

We looked at air fryers last year, they look great for single people or couples but not for larger families, think if you were cooking Sunday roast with multiple ingredients you'd struggle to get it all in, even saleswoman was honest enough to admit it.

They are a very dry heat.
If I ever do a joint, I'll still do it in the oven, covered, to keep it moist, then uncover it at the end.
Or slow cook it in the crock pot, then pull it, or finish it off in a roasting tin.

When I used to do a steak, it had to be fried in garlic butter.
(Hence the weight gain, and the high cholesterol of the past!)

I don't have one, don't really have the room either but battered cauliflower and broccoli "wings" once cooked dipped in sticky maple* bbq or spicy buffalo sauce.

* Adjustable sauces to suit you.

On the slightly healthier side. I've shared a few photos in another thread of baked tofu, which would be great in an air fryer

I love my air fryer. I buy those brown paper cases to go inside. In a bowl I mix 2 eggs, sometimes strips of bacon or salmon pieces leeks or broccoli chopped tomatoes bit of sweetcorn chopped mushrooms and a handful of cheese. Pop it in the liner and air fry for 15-20 mins. Makes a really substantial meal. I actually have this for breakfast and it keeps me full all day. I will do one tomorrow and post a picture
That sounds lovely Emma , what temperature do you cook it on , looking forward to seeing your picture.

I’m not actually sure the temp as mine just has an air fryer setting. I made one this morning but it was very rushed and I was about to take a photo then realised it looked pathetic lol

@AndBreathe what settings do you do them on? (time/temp and mode if you have options)

I'm not the cook in the household, so would be making it up if I told you, but his standard SOP would usually be to start at a lover temp for a "while", the whack it up. The crispy is about the last few minutes. Our AF goes up to 250 in 5c increments

He's an excellent cook, but dues a lot by n instinct I simply don't possess!

We do beef gammon lamb in slow cooker, with gammon & lamb we brown it off in fan oven, slow cooker makes meat so tender & delicious

Steaks have to be fried in pan with butter, then add onions tomatoes mushrooms, to top it all off twice cooked homemade chips & fried eggs.

Own cholesterol is good so don't worry about using butter.

Exactly the same as me.
(Apart from the fried egg!)

As promised the airfry omelette type thingy.
2 eggs, broccoli, sweetcorn, salmon fillet, mushrooms topped with sliced tomatoes and grated cheese. Cooked in a paper cooking case. I’d say around 500 cals so keeps me quite full till tea time very minimal impact on BG.

That looks good. I used to do that sort of thing in the oven, I'll have to move them into the air fryer.

Ooh I can almost smell that , it looks lovely, enjoy.

My ‘full breakfast’ treat. Living on my own, I use a fairly small fryer. I use it for basic stuff but aim to try more adventurous recipes. A basic use for me - set at 200 deg. for 15 mins. Couple of beef or good pork sausages in for full time, couple of rashers of bacon in at 7 mins and turn sausages. Large halved tomato and a few mushrooms in at 5 mins. Meanwhile, fry an egg or make some scrambled egg. I’ve not tried egg in the fryer yet but might be pushed for space.
