Finally got an air frier, anyone got any recipes, food tips I can do in my frier (low carb obviously).

There are specific diabetic recipe books for the air fryer. Anything that you would normally deep fry can be cooked with a lot less oil or fat in the air fryer. Good for roasting vegetables. I rather like thick sliced courgettes, perhaps with a little seasoning before cooking.

Hope you get on well with it @Charl

Let us know any particular successes when you find them 🙂

Does it come with a little recipe-suggestion book? You may be able to make some lower carb swaps for those ideas (eg celeriac instead of potatoes)?

I use one all the time.
It's just a mini fan oven, I cook most things in it as I would in the oven.
I rarely use oil anyway.

Not "healthy" but defo low carb - bacon in the air fryer is glorious :D

Wedges are good in it too - I usually do sweet potato or carrot or you can use normal potato too

If you google keto air fryer recipes uk you will find loads of recipes for you to try.

I cook my steaks in mine.. lot warmer than going outside to use the gas grill..

8-10 minutes on air fry 205C gives a decent medium rare (depending on thickness of course, mine are usually 1 inch thick minimum.)

We got one right away after my son got diagnosed. We love it. He isn't sn adventurous eater so we've not tried anything fancy.

Makes a lousy baked potato though. Lol

The McCain frozen ones come out great in mine, not tried with fresh but wondering if you are brushing them with oil first?

My OH does a magnificent baked spud in the air fryer. Rubbed with oil the stabbed a few times then go for it. Fabulously crisp skin and fluffy inners (Maris Pipers).

Hmmm. Wonder why my baked potatoes aren't turning out. I do put oil on them first. They just don't turn soft inside like I expect.

@AndBreathe what settings do you do them on? (time/temp and mode if you have options)

Microwave them first.
Cook at 160 to 200, depending on how fast I want them, and how they cooked in the microwave before.
I don't bother with oil, the air fryer takes care of the crispy skin by itself.

I used the diy setting, had them on 200. Had them for 20 minutes but they weren't done so was I think another 10 minutes.

Microwaving first might me an idea.

I find air fryers cook faster than a fan oven, if the potato is crisping outside before the inside cooks I'd turn the temperature down.
20 minutes seems very fast as well, but I guess it depends on the size of potato if you haven't pre cooked them.

I love my air fryer. I buy those brown paper cases to go inside. In a bowl I mix 2 eggs, sometimes strips of bacon or salmon pieces leeks or broccoli chopped tomatoes bit of sweetcorn chopped mushrooms and a handful of cheese. Pop it in the liner and air fry for 15-20 mins. Makes a really substantial meal. I actually have this for breakfast and it keeps me full all day. I will do one tomorrow and post a picture

@EmmaL76 as in chopped fresh tomato's or tinned? really sounds good. might give it a try.
Have you used the silicone inserts for yours? I keep meaning to pick up some kinda liner for mine

Sorry.. I chop up a couple of cherry tomatoes. You can basically put anything you like in them and it always turns out ok. No I haven’t used the silicone ones but I’m sure they would work just the same

Like sound of that, love good steak.

We looked at air fryers last year, they look great for single people or couples but not for larger families, think if you were cooking Sunday roast with multiple ingredients you'd struggle to get it all in, even saleswoman was honest enough to admit it.
