Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Well this article is from Diabetes UK itself. As I said I will not be silenced just because people don't like it. I could find a lot more. Go into Google and type in "Cinnamon and diabetes" and practically the first article you come to is from the Diabetes UK Website!
I will continue to try to post my results and findings and will not be silenced. As I said ban me if you want.

@Tim19662
Erm, it's from "a" Diabetes UK, just not this one.
I don't think that particular site would be giving credibility to anything unfortunately.

I think anything that's helpful and open minded is good . Unlike here which shuts down what it doesn't like. My A1C is still high but has dropped to 7.4 from horrendous. It works. Period.

@Tim19662 I am glad to read that you have found something that helps you manage your diabetes. It's great that you have shared your experience on the early thread. I am not sure why you need to repeat this on multiple threads and why you are being so aggressive about it.

Unfortunately, there is a money making organisation Diabetes Digital Media which, due to their URL (diabetes.co.uk) is often confused with the charity Diabetes UK. Any articles you see on their site will be unrelated to this charity.

I had no intention of being aggressive but my first post was removed and my second thread stopped. So this is the third one unfortunately. I was only trying to help people.

I'm firmly in the "whatever works for you" school of diabetes management, but the science behind cinnamon and diabetes control isn't there to back it up as beneficial in scientific trials.
Leach, M.J. and Kumar, S., 2012. Cinnamon for diabetes mellitus. Cochrane database of systematic reviews, (9). Leach and Kumar did a metaanalysis of studies into the use of cinnamon in the management of diabetes and stated:
"The review authors found cinnamon to be no more effective than placebo, another active medication or no treatment in reducing glucose levels and glycosylated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), a long-term measurement of glucose control."

It's excellent if it works for you, but the science isn't there to back it up. There may be future trials which do prove it, but I couldn't find them when I searched the literature in google scholar, and I'd rather stick with tried and tested treatments underpinned by good scientific data.

If it works for you, all good, but you can't extrapolate that it will work for everyone from that. My worry is that people will try cinnamon or other non-proven "treatments" for their diabetes, and disregard effective, proven treatments, to their detriment.

I have cinnamon on my breakfast pretty well every morning.... but just because I like it. It has no impact on my levels one way or another from what I can see and I have Libre.

There are something like 42 factors which can affect BG levels, so whilst cinnamon may be helping you with your diabetes, it could also be one of those 42 factors that you perhaps haven't considered or as suggested, the placebo effect. Stress can be a big factor in raising BG levels, so if you believe that the cinnamon in working for you, that may be relaxing you and thereby reducing your glucose levels. The mental aspect of diabetes is as broad and convoluted as the physical and biological side of it. So many things interact in the human body and mind.

I hope cinnamon continues to work for you. I will continue to eat it regularly because I enjoy it but not for my diabetes.

Cinnamon was something in the news that was supposed to lower BGs when I was diagnosed over 20 years ago. I tried it. For me, it made no difference at all.

If it works for you, great! But is it the only change you have made?

I've found a couple of clinical trials to suggest it works quite well. For some reason it won't let me paste the links. I take it alongside my morning Gicklazide. No one should stop taking medication unless advised to.

Yes. In fact the Doctor has reduced my medication to one Glicklazide per day. I still don't eat desserts or sweets of course. But I've found I can eat most main course foods.

I've just done a finger prick test after eating fish pie with cheese and potatoes. OK it's been 2 hours. 5.2
I tried to upload a pic of my finger prick monitor. The libre was a bit lower 4.2 which is too low. Chocolate time as I have to drive soon
