Hi, I'm Becky and I'm new to this forum. I'm in desperate need for some. The advice as I've been getting conflicting information since I was diagnosed 2 years ago but it got scary for me yesterday.

My eyes were blurry while I was driving for work so I grabbed a burger from mcdonalds because I thought maybe it was because I hadnt yet eaten (4pm)

I checked my BMs once I was back at work and they were 33. I have never had such high bms. I drank water a d went for a walk and got them down to 28.

111 sent me to AE where I spent the night getting fluids and a shot of insulin. I was sent home when my BMs were down to 12 with some antibiotics and a recommendation to see my optician.

Since I've been home they've been creeping up again and are currently 22.

I dont know what to do

Definitely call 111 @BeckyC You need some medical input. It could be anything - an infection, for example, or maybe you were misdiagnosed. Whatever it is, you need some help in getting your blood sugar down.

Please let us know how you are.

Hi @BeckyC
yes definitely call 111 think you will need a change of medication, and possibly revisit the hospital for monitoring as obviously high readings as high as 30 and now 22 aren’t good for you,
take care

Hi @BeckyC,

Just popping in to say hi. As kindly advised above, please seek medical advice as they may need to issue you new medication or amend the diagnosis.

Do let us know how you get on, we're here to support you along this journey.

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies, I have been put on antibiotics as AE suspected an infection and I'm currently waiting for a call back from my doctor.

I have been controlling my diabetes through medication (metformin and a weekly injection of semeglutide, probably butchered the spelling of that)

My bms were 21 at 6am this morning, I've been sipping on water and I'm afraid to eat anything incase I make them shoot up again

Sorry to hear about your high BGs @BeckyC

How did the call go with your Dr?

Are they running further tests?

@everydayupsanddowns My doctor had me come in for a blood test, he mentioned doing an infection check with them. I have to wait till Wednesday for the results to come back but right now my BGs are around 14 when I wake up and then can go as high as 22.

I've lost my appetite and I'm just very tired

Yikes! At those levels you must be feeling pretty grim :(

Make sure you keep your fluid intake up to try to help flush put the excess glucose

Seems like it might help to keep your carb intake fairly low to try to help minimise glucose rises?
