Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Good morning everyone, I’m looking for some advice/information and hopefully someone will be able to help.sorry it’s quite long!
I’ve been type 2 diabetic for about 12years, well controlled with metformin. Just over 4 weeks ago started to feel really unwell... sore throat, nausea, headache, fatigue, no appetite. Fainted few days later and burst my nose and ribs, ended up in hospital to get nose stitched up and was told that although I didn’t have cough and fever that it was highly likely I had to corona virus so self isolate etc. I’ve now been wiped out with it for over 4 weeks... past 7 days I’ve had short periods where I feel ok and can get up and dressed but it doesn’t last, mac of 4 hours then I’m back in bed feeling exhausted, headaches, sick etc. I’m nowhere near as bad as I was but it’s just relentless! I’ve spoken to Dr who thinks it’s very much an unknown quantity with this virus as don’t really know how it impacts on every individual .
im fine with that but just trying to find others who have been feeling like this for so long and who are getting better albeit slowly. Anyone else experiencing this or now of someone? Thanks for potential advice, support

Hello @haze55

Welcome to the forum! Really sorry to hear that you’ve been struck down with the virus. :(

We’ve had a few members who have been ill with it, and it does seem to vary from person to person how long it takes to feel back up to full speed.

Hope you are feeling fully recovered soon.

So haze - can I enquire please what your BG has been up to whilst you've been ill with this whatever?

Hello @haze55
welcome to the forum, and so sorry to hear that you are suffering from the virus.
I hope that you start to feel better soon.

@haze55 - just wondering what help the NHS gave you, to avoid going any higher? Or what they'd say had it been 15 or 20 or 30? Just glad it wasn't mega high in your case, phew.

And if you are not prescribed test strips - shedloads of T2s aren't so not unlikely that they won't have a clue where their BG is - how the hell can any of them avoid the T2 equivalent of DKA ? (It used to be known as HONK, hyper osmolar summat, which made it easy to remember, but now it's HHK which isn't)

HHS? Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state
