Advice to get Mounjaro Prescription from GP

Hello! I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic over 8 years ago. Currently on Metformin 2000mg daily and 2mg glimepiride daily (also been on gliclazide but felt awful on it) I'm also on Ramipril and Amlodipine for blood pressure. I started Self funding Mounjaro 4 months ago as wanted to see if it had good results before asking GP to prescribe as previously they stayed they wanted me to try more oral medications (it's been almost a decade, they've had enough time) My HBA1C in June 2024 was 74. Just had it redone and it's now 36! I never expected to see that number at all and I'm so happy. I just wanted any advice on asking my GP to prescribe it based on the great results I've had (also lost almost 18kg in the process) I was referred to a 12 week weight loss program on the NHS in January last year with a dietary consultant and despite exercise and calorie deficit I didn't lose any weight or make any difference in my blood glucose readings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Wow @rpg-girl86 what an effort you have made - and welcome to the forum - the reduction in Hb1Ac iand weight loss is brilliant - well done - I can't give any advice sadly as not my area of expertise but it sound like you have done an amazing job 🙂

Thank you! It's been the first time since being diagnosed that I've managed to lose any weight at all and to have such a reduction in my HBA1C has really made me feel like I can actually take control of this now. Just hoping my GP agrees!
