Say if I fancied the likes of a sachet of flavoured latte or something would it be ok to inject to cover it or would it be advisable to stay away from it completely, all inputs welcome 🙂 x

Of course it's OK. Just be aware of insulin stacking if it's not long since your last injection or not too long until your next. If that's the case, it may find it best to under, rather than over, inject.

I've only ever injected once to cover something between meals and I prefer not to to be honest so I'd probably add it in with one of my meals 🙂 x

Do whatever suits you best, but don't be afraid to experiment and treat yourself.

That's something I decided not too long after diagnosis, it all becomes far too complicated for me for it to be worth it! 🙂 Before diabetes I was a real 'grazer' and constantly snacking - hardly do it at all now and don't really miss it, so habits can and do change! 🙂 It's all a case of finding the right balance for you personally 🙂

Inject to cover it would be my advice, I don't believe in giving things up completely unless I absolutely have to, my brain dislikes being told it can't (a lot) and that just makes it want the thing I can't have all the more :D I really can't inject between meals, I'm just too sensitive to insulin, so a hypo will always follow. I do have a special way of snacking at Christmas and other special occasions involving a half bolus and then adding the other half to a mealtime bolus if needed but it's far too high maintence for long term use :D. What I would say is just check that you need bolus for it first. I can have a small latte with a shot of syrup (just one pump of syrup) without bolus if I'm out shopping or doing something active because my basal will deal with it. I know some people would have to bolus but it depends on how your body rocks it's roll. I also discovered over Christmas that I don't need to inject anywhere near as much for fancy coffee as the carb info would suggest. By a process of deduction I realised it was just the syrup if there was any that I needed to count. I nearly knocked myself out injecting for a gingerbread latte, which was when it dawned on me that I wouldn't normally inject for a latte, so I subtracted the carb value of a latte from the carb value for the gingerbread latte and bolused for the difference. Hey presto perfect blood sugar control. It was also when I realised I could only tolerate one pump of syrup because it was far too sweet for me, but you live and learn 😉

I so want a regular hot chocolate just made up with milk for the creaminess but don't know what to do haha x

In contrast to other people I don't seem to have any problems at all bolusing for what I eat as I eat it. I wouldn't do it if I was still trying to work output correction factors, ratios etc, but I'm not. The way I see it, I am "stacking" carbs, so I need to "stack" the insulin to match!
