His liver is probably pushing out glucose to compensate for lack of food all day Lisaa. Better for him to eat little and often than not at all.

Ok thanks, so yesterday he had eggs on 1 slice of toast for breakfast, I tested him about 1.30 and he was 10.1 then for tea he had baked fish and 1 small jacket potato with tuna on and I tested him 2 hours later and he was 7.5 ! So I am hoping we are going in the right direction

Definitely on the right track food wise Lisaa but the phenomenon of ‘liver dump’ is well known in diabetes so best if he doesn’t go a full day between breakfast and teatime without food. Even a small piece of cheese and a couple of oatcakes would help to stop the liver trying to over-compensate. Good luck!

Before I knew anything about Diabetes I did know that they had to look after themselves and eat three squares a day. 🙂 Keeps us all on an even keel imho.

So he had eggs on toast again for breakfast then we have been out for a nice long walk got back about 1.30 pm tested him and he was 10.4???

Did you test pre and post breakfast?
