My daughter is of 5 year old and she diagnosed with Type 1 around month ago.
Last time I got very useful response on community forum so asking another advice on medication you provided to your Kid when s/he was having cold, cough & fever?

Is that only paracetamol we should offer or if in case high grade ( 38+ ) fever we can go with Ibuprofen ?

Due to weekend its hard to get GP appointment so wanted to have experience advice here if you have been gone through this situation in past. I anyways try to contact Diabetic Team who helping us from Hospital.

You can also use Vicks Vapour rub. That helps breathing and aids sleep. If her throat is sore, you can make ice lollies out of sugar-free squash.

Thank you @Inka
For now we giving her steam with Vicks & drop of olbas oil in steam water.
Fortunately, fever never gone up so Vicks & olbas oil helped a little.

Her Ketone gone up few times yesterday & today but later it came down to 0.4.
Doctor suggested us to follow sick day instructions so we doing same but wanted to have advice on medication on fever if in case temperature increases.

Thanks for your comments.

It is good that you have the sick day rules to guide you at times like this. Glucose levels do usually go up with illness, and keeping a close eye is good. Does your daughter have a sensor (apologies if you have already told us that and I have forgotten)

I can’t comment on medicines for children, but I do know that steam and old as oil is always useful for any colds I feel coming on. I am glad that that has worked for your daughter.

Yes, she has a dexcom and we monitor her sugar level on app. We also do prick test few times in day if in case see Ketones going up. Had observed that yesterday and today

But following sick rule guide helping to Ketones understand control. And steam with olbas oil is like blessing for cold.

My daughter is recovering from cold ( touch wood ) but will make sure to give her sugar free paracetamol if in case she gets fever.

Many thanks for commenting, all information getting on forum are always very helpful.
