Oh Crikey-I did but obviously misread what was appropriate for diabetics
You would be surprised😱
My rule of thumb is to cut (or reduce) all carb sources such as Bread, Pasta, Rice, Cereals, starchy vegetables & now packets of instant foofoo coffee..... Instead replacing them with green leafy vegetables (or in the case of coffee, intravenous drip of black unsweetened)

I have just started cycling again but exercise in the week is difficult during winter so its only weekends-plus I am continually exhausted which Im worried may be due to my rubbish levels
Yup, sorry, rubbish levels makes you tired. But have faith, when you get on top of it you will feel better.

So BG before eating was 9.6- following a whole meal ham sandwich and a Satsuma two hours later it is 12.8. Looks like my idea of healthy whole meal was a not so good one :(
Bread of any kind is carbs - normal breads, of any colour is quite a whack of carbs - the Lidl protein rolls are about 9 gm of carbs each which I can cope with a couple of times a week.
I bought a net of tiny satsuma type fruits before Christmas and finished the last one two days ago - they are very high carb fruits and berries are a better choice, except blue berries which are higher sugar - about double strawberries I believe.
I have coffee with cream and hardly ever buy one ready made or use a sachet - I percolate from ground beans and add double cream, in moderation.
By keeping my BG levels normal eating low carb foods I have no problems with diabetes at all. Plus I have lost a load of weight and feel great. Carb dense foods are just not worth eating.

I aspire to that control 🙂

10.0 before dinner of Steak and salad and a little spoon of coleslaw- two hours later 10.2 which is pretty good ...right ???

Very good.....

Don't know whether you had store bought coleslaw but I make my own, ref & white cabbage finely cut & dressing Greek yoghurt / Organic Apple Cider vinegar 2:1 ratio & adjust to taste... 5 mins prep (I sometimes use sour cream depending on what I have in the refrigerator)

I'd rather have home made myself but there again if it's only for one meal for one person, though it's not much work you have to buy the ingredients before hand so if it's something you just happened to nip and get on your way home for work for a quick dinner ........

Otherwise you get left with half a ton of coleslaw which may be delicious on Day 1, but every night for days and days to use it up and not waste it, it's attractiveness fades!

Good Saturday morning everybody 🙂
BG before bed was 10.00- fasting BG was 9.9 :(
I must be sleep scoffing
Have a wonderful day

Mr Radders and I recently bought a turbo trainer from Halfords which turns a bike into an exercise bike because he was often missing out on his daily cycle due to high winds, ice or heavy rain. They sell one for £50 which is cheaper than an exercise bike and can be folded up when not in use.

Off for a cycle this morning so will be interesting to see the impact.......just call me Bradley lol

I've seen these & thinking about getting one.

I should add that we didn’t buy that one as we (well Mr Radders really) decided we wanted a smart one! As we had a voucher for Christmas it didn’t feel quite so extravagant!

so 13.7 pre bike ride and 10 miles and one hour later 8.8-demonstrates how i need to get off my proverbial and get moving.

Seems like there's definitely some stuff in there that's working for you 🙂

I'm in the same boat - I would make my own but I'm the only one that eats it and not every day, so I would end up wasting so much. It's just easier to buy it when I want.

Bought coleslaw is always slathered with 'half a gallon' of runny mayo though, cos when making it at home you use a lot less mayo than you think you need, since it become more moist, as the moisture escapes from the veg - I know when mass catering we've been known to make literally a bucketful and needed to use an awful lot less than you'd imagine - and once we'd served the top half, the rest would practically be awash.

Thank you- I am trying to keep a food diary but how do you work out the carb content of everything you eat and drink?
Hi. Have also had diabetic denial with blood glucose levels coming down, holiday, going up, Xmas well who knows but I know what I predict. There is a book and an app called carbs and calories which you can get easily from Amazon, shows foods, portion sizes and nutrition content if that might help. Good luck

Oh Crikey-I did but obviously misread what was appropriate for diabetics- I am totally cross with myself for how daft I have been- I thought i was being pretty good but i haven't been. Thank you have now taken them off my shopping list haha
Don’t be daft. I got caught out at work, a colleague gave me a latte, and I bought more. Don’t even put sweetners in coffee. Knew they tasted sweet but then looked at packet. She fell heir to the rest lol. It’s easy to be cross and say you are daft, but try being kind to yourself, as you most likely would be to others who have this bi&@h of a condition to live with.

Oops, I thought blueberries were low carb along with raspberries

blue berries are the exception to the berries are OK rule.
