I have decided to go back on my Glucophage SR (I can't tolerate metformin 😱). I started off on Glucophage SR lost weight and managed to come off all D medication but I have now put on 2.5 stone and think my insulin resistance is rising again. I have been measuring my levels over the past couple of weeks and they are rising slightly (I have been having fasting levels of 7.2 and I am normally in the middle 5s) so have decided it is time to go back on medication before my HbA1c starts rising...

Carol, its not a defeat, the D is a progressive beast and you have and will continue to do amazingly well. Needing meds again is just one of them thing xxx

I agree with Di, Carol, it's not a defeat. I hope that it helps you get back to good control and that you can start to lose that weight again 🙂

This sounds to me like it's just what you have to do for your management of D. I hope you'll be able to come off them again in time, don't see it as a defeat, good on you for realising something needs to be done and for doing it. Good luck 🙂

I agree with everyones comments Carol - good luck with it. 🙂

Thanks everyone, I will be okay and perhaps I might be able to come off them again if/when I loose the weight 🙂.

Its certainly not a defeat, if we are poorly, and there is something that makes us a bit better, it would be odd to say no. So to me , diabetes is the same.

There does seem a strong desire amongst some to try it alone, I feel that way too at times, but I am sure my time will come when its necessary to seek some help.🙂

It is hardly defeat, You are using common sense, a scarce commodity in today's world.😎

There is a trend amongst Type2 diabetics who feel that medications and/or insulin is a sign of failure. Nothing could be further from the truth, if you cannot manage it by diet and exercise alone and do not want your health to suffer then make use of what is available.

Hope you soon get back to being in control.

Take care.
Maise.
