Hi. I have been receiving a high percentage of Accu-Chek Aviva test strips that appear to be faulty. I have had four pots recently with this problem. My meter reads "Bad Strip" once the sample is applied.
Have any of you been experiencing similar problems

You should ring the customer care line for the company that makes them.

I have and they replace them, but I seem to get more faulty ones than would expect. I do HGV truck driving and have to test every two hours. I now make sure I have more than one pot with me in case I get this problem

If it keeps happening, it could be the meter...I would have thought that more likely to be the cause of the issue...see whether you can get them to provide you with another one...and that gives you a spare if it turns out it is the strips.

Were all the pots in the same batch number Ray?

The first two failures were the same batch number......I have had two failures since which are different numbers

This has happened to me recently as well, significantly more than it used to.

With me it's never been eg every other strip from a pot - just the odd one, occasionally. Nothing dramatic at all. Not ever needed to ring Roche about it - so far!

Not at all bad in 9 years really.

Hope it lasts!

You're lucky that you cans till get these strip.

My pharmacy has had difficulty getting them this year, and I've had to change over to a different make of tester and strips - which I don't like as much.

Eh C&E?????? No shortage round here!

Are you sure it isn't your CCG that have decided they're too expensive? cos that's what has happened in most places, but they can't say that to eg me, cos they have provided me with the insulin pump and the handset/meter, and we didn't get a choice - only Roche (could have another make but if so, clinic staff aren't trained/experienced so you're a bit on your own)

I've not had a problem with the supply of mine, either.

They were Accenscia Contours that my pharmacy had difficulty with. I would have thought that these "simple" strips would be a lot less expensive than the more complex looking strips for a Glucomen meter. These are bigger, thicker, faster.

Coincidentally, my surgery wrote to all its Diabetic patients and said that they wanted to get everyone onto the same meters & strips, and they cited the cost as being the major factor.

Once I'd been given the new meter, the pharmacy then got my supply of Contour strips in.

Now the problem is with the lancets. I've had a prescription outstanding for 5 weeks. I've to go in tomorrow to look at 3 alternative types to decide which ones I want to use instead. And it took 3 weeks to get insulin. I asked for 3 and only got 2.

I know there has been a lot of bad weather etc, but really??

Is it the pharmacy being carp then? Have you asked any others in the vicinity if they're having trouble getting the stuff you need?

I have had to wait half a day or a whole day on occasions as our pharmacy now has tiny premises and can't store masses of anything, but they get several regular deliveries a day plus 'specials' ad hoc.
