There’s a lot going on at the moment and I’m currently at my Mum’s house trying to sort it ready to sell as she’s now in a care home. I would have gone home yesterday except for the weather. Woke up this morning and the boiler’s not working 😡 So in the midst of trying to find an engineer and dealing with both kids and everything else I did my daughter’s insulin and then carried on with the next thing. 15 minutes later she comes and says, ‘where’s my food’ 😱 Oops

I wish she had her Libre on so I could see how it affects her glucose as I suspect she would benefit from pre-bolusing at breakfast.

Oops . Shame about the Libre as the info would help re pre bolusing.

Yes it would help a lot. She just can’t bear the application.

I can understand that. Their are probably a variety of reasons why she’s not too keen

I suspect she’ll go on a CGM when she eventually goes on a pump but there’s no rush yet. It would be interesting for us to get the data but she doesn’t see the benefit at the moment, which is fine.

Is a pump on the horizon, Bear? or wishful thinking? - if the latter - yours or hers?

She can get a pump funded any time in the next 2 years and the diabetes team are happy for her to have one. She’s keen in theory but a bit scared of the cannula and doesn’t really see the point at the moment. If she doesn’t get one before she’s 12 then we may have funding issues but that the moment her control is fine and we don’t have any issues with MDI so it’s not an urgent need.

Much more important to ‘jump’ when you are ready, I think. Good to know the option is there, but it helps propel you through the uncertainty and initial ‘oddness’ of it (usually doesn’t last more than a few weeks/months) if you are actively wanting to do it, rather than feeling pushed into it.
