Welcome to the forum @ssison

Glad you have joined us.

Does your wife take any medication to help her manage her diabetes? How have things been going over the past 10 years? Are there any specific things that you find difficult?

Yes. She is taking zoliget and metformin. Aside from these, she is also taking lozartan, these serves as maintenance medicines for the last 10 years now. She has a feeling of pain in her legs, numbness in her finger.

Her medical practicioner is an internist and cardiologist.

I don’t think we get Zoliget in the UK. It seems to be a dual-agent mix of pioglitazone and glimepiride.

Does your wife check her glucose levels at home? What sorts of results does she generally see?

Is she speaking to her Dr about the changes in sensation in her legs and fingers? These may be related to nerve damage connected to her diabetes, but it’s important for the cause to be correctly identified as it could be other things too

She has a regular checkup with her doctor every 3 months. Can her doctor diagnose whether its nerve pain ( due to nerve damage) or can i take her to a Neurologist ?

I think the system in the UK is rather different in that usually any referrals to specialists have to be through your G P unless you are admitted to hospital as an emergency.
If her blood glucose levels are consistently high then it could be nerve issues but you need to get a proper diagnosis before jumping to any conclusions.
