Hi Jayne, sorry to hear about your fibro, I understand that can be very painful. As Northerner says it is important to get advice from your GP or dietitian, but in my case I was about 2 to 3 stone overweight and I lost 2 stone over 3 months.
It came off very slowly, but I did it by cutting down on carbs, which I did eat a lot of prior to diagnosis. I did the diet as a shortish term measure as I couldn't do the exercise to shift the weight.
I got a BG meter and some testing strips and measured my BG before a meal and 1 and 2 hours afterwards, to identify which foods were sending my BG high, and either cut them out or reduced the portion size to get healthier readings. This had the effect of lowering my calorie intake anyway, for me. I did have loads more fruit and veg., to fill up.
Everyone is different to some aspect, but I hope to get a bit more weight off and then hopefully I will up my calorie intake to level off.
One benefit of the weight loss is that I can do a little exercise now, not much, but every bit is worth it. Care is needed though if you are on any medication as the dosage may change. I was seeing my GP each month so was able to monitor any problems. I also had a huge amount of advice from the guys on here, and read as much as I could. I expect you have seen all the links for us newbies.
Hope that helps.
