Hi Cherry,
thanks for the info 🙂 This meter is available in the UK free of charge as long as you meet certain conditions.

I have thought this would be a simple and invaluable thing for meters to do. Ive recently acquired an Expert meter and, clever thought it is, it could go a bit further.

I hope they develop these ideas as far as they can. Would help newbies who are a bit unsure about patterns.

I tried this meter a few months ago (and reviewed it elsewhere).

It sounds great but for me it didn't live up to it's promise. There's no ability to enter insulin or food amounts amounts so the patterns it sees are limited to "you are been low before breakfast for the last three days". I don't think this offers anything better than a log book. I may be being harsh as I have used other OneTouch meters lots over the years but this didn't give me much more than I could get from my Nano in a much bigger package. However, the pricker is one of the painfree-est (not a word but it should be!) I've ever used and that's stayed with my current meter.

The Expert, however, I loved before moving across to the dark side - pumping. Yes, it was short in a few areas but the ability to enter carbs and dosage to show active insulin was very useful for me on MDI. Bits of the tech of pumping without the pump. I had to fight with the clinic to let me have one though as I know they're expensive to buy so Roche / Accu-chek aren't too keen to let them out easily.

That seems very shortsighted of them. I'm sure it can't cost them much to incorporate a better front end with some memory for all the basics plus algorithms for bolus and correction. Not impressed by that.

I too had a bi of a fight for the Expert. GP's DN couldn't get one. Roche wouldn't let me have one. So I asked DSN about pumping, got a bit of a knock-back, so mentioned the Expert and she was only too happy to get me one as a consolation. Took her 3 months to provide it but she was good to her word.

I quite like it, though I agree with Mike's review on his blog (everydayetc). I'm hope these meters will continue to develop in their features. It's a very competitive market and they need an edge. Perhaps one that can be tailored to T1/T2 needs by options with all the whistles and bells.🙂
