Ok, I know this question has probably been asked 1 million times before, but I occasionally like a small piece of Candy like chocolate, mint, after eight mints, Ferrero Rocher etc. I have type 2 diabetes, is there anything out there that can be a good substitute, please????

Yes, you can buy high cocoa content chocolate, anything above 75% , this is remarkably low carb, and definitely a satisfying treat.
Other is low sugar jellies.

Be aware that many sweets/ chocolate labelled low sugar ca have artificial sweeteners that have a laxative effect.

Thank you very much Gridtnr, I will give the chocolate a try

Hi @Chas. I have very much gotten used to the 85% dark chocolate - never thought i would, but build up to it slowly and i'm sure you end up preferring it to the more 'usual' rubbish out there, i know i do!. (i cut it into tiny pieces to make sugar free muffins, or grate a little over suitable puddings, and just have a couple of squares now and then, (so I dont feel too deprived). Its still calorific, and gotta watch that waistline! 😉 But with this chocolate you taste the cocoa bean, and not all that sickly refined sugar. My hubby (who has always had a sweet tooth and isnt diabetic, had gotten up to 70% and doesn't mind it).

I’ve never been a choccy fan but Lindt 85% dark choc is delicious and only 5 carbs per 2 squares

Thank you very much T gee for this very useful info

If you have an Aldi nearby pick up a packet of their Moser Roth 85% chocolate, there's 5 individual bars in it, each bar weighs 25g and has under 5g carbs, it's about £1.45 a pack now I think, it's really good chocolate xx

When things calm down and all that feel free to send me a message with your address and I'd send you a pack of the Aldi stuff if you wanted me to Chas xx

That's very kind of you Kaytz, Hopefully things will get better soon

It'd be no problem Chas 🙂, we need to pull together so I also offered on the Type 1 Diabetes In Scotland Facebook page to help a guy out as he only needed 2 things but couldn't find any, I offered to have a look where I am and send him it if I could get it but he declined saying he'd get by, kindness doesn't cost a penny 🙂 xx

Kudos to all of you that can just have one of something or a bite of something. How do you do that? If I can't have the whole thing I don't want it. 🙂 Greedy is my middle name. I should have that as a username...GreedyBird.

Put the item on a high shelf in pieces so you can't get the whole piece at once Ditto. lol

No, I show enormous restraint Greedy bird Ditto, in the past , I would have demolished that choco had, but a single serving is very satisfying.
I know I should n't, but I still occasionally laspe, and have little treats, little packs of gummies for toddlers,a small portion instead of full size.
